A weight loss goal can sometimes feel as though it’s a million miles away and that you’ll never be able to hit it. That’s why you need to make your goals achievable and realistic. If your goal is too dramatic, it can actually have an adverse effect and make you feel as though you don’t want to work out because you’re never going to achieve your end goal. We’ve put together five of our top steps that you can put your mind to, in order to achieve your weight loss goal.
Changing your exercise and eating habits is actually a big change for the body, especially if you’re not used to it. You must get yourself in a good and positive mental state to begin your weight loss journey. It might sound familiar to say “I’ll start on Monday”, and those that tend to stop and start their dieting haven’t exactly got themselves in the best frame of mind for a lifestyle change just yet.
Set Your Goal
If you’re going to start your weight loss journey, you should do it properly. Make sure that you take your weight and measurements, and then decide where you want to be in 4 weeks, 8 weeks and 12 weeks. After 12 weeks, you should take a look to see if you have hit your 12 week goal and then set yourself some more goals for the next 12 weeks. Whether your goal is to do with weight, measurements or dress sizes, it doesn’t matter. Whatever you want to achieve (realistically), make sure you write it down and keep track of your goal.
Make sure that you’re putting time in the diary of when you’re going to be exercising and what exercise it is that you plan on doing. Having it all scheduled in the diary means that you won’t have excuses to not be doing your exercise. You should also be scheduling and planning your meals for the week, so that you have all of the ingredients and there’s no excuse to not eat healthily. Having a schedule will allow you to keep on track and on the road to success with your weight loss goal.
Results don’t happen immediately. Even though you may have been working your absolute hardest, you may have only lost a couple of pounds in weight, but you shouldn’t let this dishearten you. You have to keep pushing through and the weight will begin to come off and your body will tone up. Everybody is different in terms of their metabolic rate and how quickly they can burn fat, so don’t be disheartened if your gym buddy is losing the weight faster than you.
Commit, Achieve, Believe
Of course, our motto. Make sure that you’re committing yourself to the cause and that you really want it. If you really want to achieve, you must believe!
